Belvedere Infant School – Playground Transformation
The setting wanted a clearly defined outside space with sections that would help us set up activities that link to all 7 areas of learning in the EYFS. They wanted spaces that would encourage the children to use their imaginations as they learn through play so the role play, performance hut and stage were key elements for us. The EYFS runs free flow indoor/outdoor learning so it was very important that the setting had a shelter that was big enough to ensure they could use the area in all weathers.
The team did a fantastic job with the installation and it looks fantastic. They asked for inputs and opinions of staff when installing some items checking that they would be a suitable height for our children.
The project included:
- Multi-purpose canopy
- Water play
- Grass wrap steps
- Roleplay track
- Musical items
- All-weather grass
- Roleplay building
“The overall outcome is brilliant and the staff and children are thrilled with the new outdoor learning space. The huge rainbow shelter means that we can use the area to support learning during all weathers. The children love using the sandpit and for some, this has been their first experience of sand which makes the experience and the space even more magical for them, The clearly defined areas have meant that staff can quickly and easily set up fun and engaging activities that have encouraged the children to use their imaginations and work as a team whilst learning through play” – Belvedere Infant School
